oh. haha might as well upload the summary of the previous days. =)

sunday 26th aug

tuesday 28/8

father, mother:

i cooked noodle soup for my frens, and it was so delicious! =)

can't wait to go back and cook for you! =)

photos back on track. =)

ah!

finally. hahaha.. i finally managed to upload all our photos up to date on my picasa album. so please go to my picasa web albumto view it. it took me days to compile all of it!!

so far, the girls have all gone to school except me. :) i've been sleeping late doing my photos, waking up at 11 just in time to think and prepare lunch for them these past 3 days. oF course, i only prepared our daily salad for lunch today while jamie and yi wen fried our egg. =)

we have booked our tickets to norway from the 13th sept to 17th sept, with the hope of seeing the fjords and we are hoping we would be lucky to see the northen lights which rarely occurs. but the train ride is going to be a good 14 hours alogether, and i hope everything will go well. =)

well, we found out quite a bit about school this week: jamie and yi wen are taking modules meant for master students, that photocopying/printing here costs $0.10 SGD for 1 page, that schedules change the last minute and that swedish lecturers and students arrive/start class on the dot, which is so different from us.. hahaha

we've been exposed to many different types of culture changes these past 1.5 weeks, and somehow we are slowly trying to adapt ourselves to it.

i guess we'll see how it goes, ya?

jamie and yi wen made me take this pic because they say that my love for opening my mouth when i take pictures makes me look exactly like the dinosaur. -.-"

think i'll have an early night.

vi ses snart. Adjö så länge!

to darius aka da yang and hao jie aka brain: all the best for your presidential rally tmr. =) jiayou the 2 of you!

summary

ok. because the days pass so fast. hahaha.. a summary of our days:

Day 1:

as mentioned in my previous post, day 1 was filled with wax people and danish streets and fastfood.

Day 2:

Day 2 started in the airport, and ended with a chicken leg by the fountain, which we defined as happiness. we also have a video with regards to our feelings towards the country:
i don't know why i can't copy the whole code to put it up here so go and watch it over there.
Day 3:

day 3 was beautiful, because we slept on a proper bed the night before. =) also, the other 2 siao kia arrived. we had a beautiful ( and expensive) lunch, and trip to the city, where there was a huge fruits and flowers market beneath the huge shrek and donkey. The day ended with a superb dinner at Jensens, where we only ordered one main and uncountable FREE side order refills of fries.
no wonder people talk about discrimination.
hmmm.
also, we discovered that our tap water taste really funny even after being boiled. we start to panic with what we will be doing with our water supply.
fyi., water here is so expensive: 1.5l bottle - SEK20 (SGD $4.45)
siao. please treasure your 30cents bottle of water in spore.
Day 4:

Day 4 was another adventure altogether. we conquered the other side of the city and discovered a beautiful anglican church known as St Jakobs because we missed the ikea bus. it was so beautiful we couldn't stop taking pictures.
ikea is beautiful, but we didn't note any difference that it had with the one at home. everything cost simply much the same. but of course, we did many things there that we wouldn't have done in spore. these includes posing on the beds and well, lying on every mattress we come across, right, yiwen?
lunch was SOOO GOOOODDD.. meatballs tasted great. hotdog cost only SEK 5 here, compared to the ones outside ikea which min costs SEK10 = SGD 2.25? about there.

bought a bit of stuff and went home to cook our first dinner: salad - mushroom, lettuce and tomato (yes father, mother! i've been popping tomatoes in my mouth like nobody's business..), rice, chilli tuna, japanese curry and miso soup.
was really happy that day.

Day 5:

school started with orientation. it was a great way to meet people from all different european background. the only asians from the school came from China [Hongkong (2) mainland (3?)], Taiwan (1), Japan (1), Thailand (1) and SIngapore (5).

so obviously we stood out and everyone remembered us. hahaha. they thought we were 16.

had a great lunch at school and the 4 of us ate so much because we were super hungry and well, mainly cos the food was free (hehe). sat next to Patrick who is 2 heads taller than me.

scary scary.

ended the day with more salad, leftover japanese curry and spaghetti ( which we termed our version of 'mee rebus'

we felt really loved after that.

but disgusted everytime we drink our cactus water which we mistook it for mineral water.

damn gross can.

Day 6:

day 6 started with a cheek to cheek greeting with a mexican guy which caught me off guard and left me really stunned. it was followed by a city tour provided by the school and boring talks given by lecturers. of which one tried to persuade us to take an advance english class thinking that we probably couldn't speak english. gee. the discrimination.

and another video by our chewables ( please watch wennies at the background):

Day 7:

Day 7 was a friday, last day of orientation, went to school for some photo taking of which i look like some spastic idiot, but nvm, i'm fine with that. i'm still regretting i never smile more spastic.

we decided to skip the evolving of the swedish economy lecture and went shopping at h&m instead. we were so drawn by the the "REA" signs everywhere!! and the best place to be? the children's section.

all of us bought something, and are really happy with it.

was called to go for a party which was held at the school that night, while shopping, and we were reluctant to go, but we decided to show face because that afternoon during the lecture, it was made known to inform SOME of the exchange students who weren't there at the lecture of the party.

the school was packed and we all went 0.0 . no way would we want to squeeze into the school! as the door was open in intervals to allow some people in because it was so pack, i manage to get a peek what was happening inside, and i only saw heads. thats how packed it was.

so having dressed up, we decided to not waste our make up and go to another pretty pub. but lo and behold, a night in sthlm is FAR TOO DANGEROUS for 4 girls.

ever since, we've given up hope and resort to drinking hot chocolate.

we need men.

hahahahhahha

but the hot chocolate was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good... =)

Day 8:

DAy 8 started off really late, cos everybody was nua-ing away. but it was a day at Lappis, where Hoa mai and Uta lived, where we had a picnic.

many events happened that day. this included a race, a record breaking event of the most number of cheeseballs in a line in a mouth, reliving of playground days and tutorial lessons of how to keep warm when feeling super cold.

introed and met hidayat to the rest of the girls. =)

somehow, meeting someone from home seems like sth so blessed. =)

the race:

after math of race:

youtube didn't allow me. they said too big a file.

(aya.. u are saved)

the tutorial: sorry for the wrong orientation of camera.

well, posts for the later days coming soon. =)

missing all at home. =)

our very first post

ah. finally. a place where the 4 of us can pen our thoughts.

it has been one crazy week. especially for Jamie and I. with us having to spend 1 full day in COpenhagen, Denmark. we felt that we've been through a lot: from being insulted of how stupid we were to book the wrong flight and we have to pay $369 SGD if we wanted to fly on the 18th, having our train ticket confiscated because we went to the info counter as we were honest to admit we didn't know where to punch it and didn't want to break the law when it was actually a self service thing hidden obscurely at we don't know where, walking the streets of the city of CPH to see pretty hot babes in lingerie and heels walking the streets for a triumph road show, walked the whole of Louis Tussaud's wax museum (except the scary ones) which would be close on the 31st august for good, found an internet cafe to email jamie's buddy, had Macs for lunch ( which is so freaking expensive), BK for dinner, bought another train ticket, ran back to the airport baggage section, and slept at the airport.

ha.
nevertheless, admist the whole copenhagen saga, i've experience God's goodness right there. my crazy heavy baggage which weighed a hefty 34.2kg, did not pass the requirements of the Scandinavian airlines, or any other airlines for the matter. and i was told specifically to take out 3 kg and pay for the excess of 15kg, where 1 kg = 10 euros. so jamie and i dragged my luggage to a corner, and i was whining all the way while jamie tried to calm me down, and tried reasoning with me on wat to throw away.
when desperate times calls for desperate measures, i called the parents. the parents told me not to panic and just see if i could max my handcarry which was only allowed 8kg. but even before taking out anything from my checked in luggage, my hand carry was already more than 10kg. but i squeezed it all into my haversack anyway. transferred my nescafe and milo to jamie, and simply refusing to throw away anything.
so we walked back to another counter to do a baggage drop. held my breath as jamie and i carried my luggage to the scale. somehow, the bag was too heavy and we didn't place the bag properly. but thank GOd! the scale showed only 22 kg, and jamie's bag which was much smaller showed 26kg but the woman on duty couldn't be bothered to say anthing else.
just wanted to give glory to God. =) i would really say it is a miracle.
